The charity was set up after Lt John “JT” Thornton RM, from Ferndown, Dorset was tragically killed, aged 22, in southern Afghanistan on 30th March 2008. John achieved an incredible amount in his short life, including climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, a flight with the Red Arrows, travelling across New Zealand, qualifying as a sky diver and working both in Iraq and Afghanistan as an Officer in the Royal Marines. John lived his dream and died doing the job he loved. The objective of The John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation (JTYAF) is to encourage and assist young people to ‘climb as high as they can dream’. Please click here to visit the website
